Paulding County Rotary Club president John Grant welcomed Alec Smythe to the January meeting. Gov. Smythe is a member of the Buckhead Rotary Club and as per his duties serving as district governor is making the rounds to local clubs throughout Georgia. The Paulding County Rotary Club has been active in the local community since 1969. They have provided support to local charities and community programs continually since their inception. As a part Rotary International, the local club receives support and resources from the larger Rotary International organization.
Local clubs are comprised of community members and leaders from their local area. Each club works locally to provide service and support to better their community. The Rotary International expresses those same ideals of service globally. The Rotary is most noted for its efforts in the eradication of polio. Additionally, the Rotary provides youth programs, scholarships, and exchanges along with literacy programs, peace initiatives including clean water and resources for mothers and children around the world.
District Governor Smythe met with the local Paulding County Rotary Club to find out how the ongoing projects within the community were going. The governor took the opportunity to provide any additional information and/or access to resources that might facilitate these programs. Mr. Smythe also asked for feedback from the club in the hopes of finding better opportunities for service both to and from the local level.
